San Francisco Recreation and Park Department is planning to convert Crocker Amazon to a suburban-style sports complex. Trees will be cut down and the lawns will be replaced with fake, toxic plastic grass, surrounded by metal fencing and blaring night lighting with limited access for the neighbors.

Our vision is a natural setting for picnickers, farmer's markets, music, cricket, football, baseball, soccer, movie nights, birdwatching and kickball games. In other words a park for everyone — young and young at heart.

Rec Park Advisory Committee to Discuss Artificial Turf

PROSAC (Park, Recreation and Open Space Advisory Committee) will be hearing a presentation on a resolution to have RPD acknowledge the harms of plastic turf. The goal of the meeting will be to present the problems and see how far we get. There is no scheduled vote for the item. Please join the conversation with public comment.
